After releasing the critically acclaimed, and also super serious Far Cry 3, Ubisoft Montreal has decided to take its first expansion in a decidedly different direction. The tropical paradise of the original game has been replaced a dystopian futurescape in Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon. The gameplay remains mostly the same but gone is the serious tone, replaced with an 80's cartoon motif, filled with lasers and robots. Creative director Dean Evans says that you'll have a different experience, touting the expansion's terrible, one-dimensional characters and sappy writing. Evans proudly reiterates"the game is stupid."
It's a weird risk to take, but one that could ultimately pay off, especially with a soundtrack like that.
Blood Dragon releases May 1st for PC, Xbox Live, and Playstation Network.
I not sure if I like the sound of that.
ReplyDeleteThat's Ubisoft for ya. You win some, you lose some. Now, why it chooses to lose something is anyone's guess.
